Our Choir Director

Tim Munday B.Mus
Musical Director

Tim Bust

Tim is the younger son of Mary and Robin, and was appointed as Musical Director in July 2014 when Mary Munday retired from the role. The regular activities of the choir keep Tim extremely busy, both in public view and behind the scenes, in his various roles, from directing the choir to producing choral and instrumental arrangements, and backing tracks whenever required.

Tim's musical development began at a very early age through his education at Park Lane Primary School and Reading School, culminating with a Bachelor of Music Degree at Sheffield University, along with classical training in Piano, Organ and Flute.  In addition, Tim was a regular percussionist with the Reading-based Thames Wind Concert Band under the baton of John Dingle.

After his graduation, Tim was appointed Organist and Choirmaster at Tylehurst St George's Church, Reading and since 1996 has been Musical Director at St Agnes Church, Whitley, Reading.

Since leaving Sheffield Tim has pursued a full time career in music retail, working for Modern Music Ltd in Reading from 1988 and since 2005 to the present day with Dawsons Music Ltd also in Reading.

As well as his various roles at Reading Concert Singers, Tim enjoys regular activities on the live music scene, from leading worship at St Agnes Church to regular appearances on drums as part of the on-stage band for the many Music Festivals for primary school age children at the Hexagon Theatre, Reading, under the batons of Clive Waterman and Jane Reed. Tim is also often called upon as a guest vocalist and/or instrumentalist for other local choirs, such as his appearance playing timpani and singing with the choir of St Peter's Church, Caversham, performing the Rutter 'Requiem' under the direction of Ian Westley.

Away from the live scene, Tim is an active composer and arranger, with some of his work being performed by the Reading Concert Singers, such as his arrangements of the Cliff Richard classics 'Summer Holiday' and 'Saviour's Day'.  As part of his worship leading role at St Agnes, Tim has written several worship songs and choruses which are regularly used there. Tim also has a growing number of compositions and arrangements which have been published by Spartan Press, the most recent being Volumes 5, 6 and 7 of their 'Voluntary Choice' series for church organ.
